The Orlando Initiative is a safe place for different denominations to come together and focus on a common goal. We are always hosting local and out-of-state groups for work projects in the Orlando Mobile Home Park. Most of the people that get involved stay in touch because they never imagined this kind of living environment still exists in Orlando.

We tell them: Our mission field starts in our back yard. You don‘t really have to travel to distant countries to share the Gospel and change a life. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a part of this grassroots movement. We have many opportunities for single volunteers to take a role in the many openings to empower these peoples’ lives.

Current partnerships:

Short and Long-Term Involvement

There are many ways to be involved in a project like this.

Some short term options are:

  • Work groups that serve one day
  • Financial, material and/or prayer support
  • Donations of building materials used to repair the mobile homes

Some long-term options are:

  • Recruit volunteers in your church and have them trained to become a facilitator in any of the running programs (Campus Crusade for Christ at Here’s Life Inner City) that will train volunteers for most of the programs and guarantees high quality education) This will allow believers in your church to develop their God given skills and talents
  • Elect one or more programs and financially sponsor it.
  • Provide young teachers/preachers and make other programs available from the chapel building on other week nights. We are open to hear some of your creative thoughts!
  • Develop big brother/sister relationships with some of the residents and bring them to your church on Sundays. Be an accountability partner or sponsor for a resident in a ‘hands-on’ fashion.
  • Provide employment opportunities from business people within your church community
  • Donate a section of land for TOI’s work (In exchange for a tax deduction from the IRS)

The Orlando Initiative is a place where the body of Christ comes together, where we can work together in an environment that is safe from denominational—and/or ethnic differences and where we share the resources entrusted to us. Together, we can make a powerful impact to improve the community of Orlando.
